Meetings
2nd Tuesday of every month:
Committee Planning Sessions - Jefferson Center, Suite 300 - 6 p.m.
4th Tuesday of every month:
Networking Social - Locations to be announced - 6 p.m.
The
planning sessions and networking socials generally last about
45 minutes to an hour, and afterwards, we enjoy socializing
and having dinner
together
at one of the many restaurants around Roanoke. This is a great
opportunity for new prospects to meet
the members
of the Jaycees, learn about
what we are currently planning for the upcoming weeks and to simply
enjoy the laid
back atmosphere.
Special
Events Committee
This
committee will focus on our signature projects such as the Haunted
House. These projects require lots of planning, and tasks
will include setting dates, finding locations, raising money,
advertising, recruiting volunteers and communicating to the
chapter what the committee needs to make the project happen. If you are
interested in being a project manager, assisting with
a special event or fundraising, have some ideas about events or are
interested in gaining more experience with event planning
please join us.
Community Service Committee
Its
time to get involved! Community service is one of the core purposes of
our organization. The Roanoke Valley is filled with
opportunities for us to donate our time and make a difference. We have
been working with the Mill Mountain Zoo, Turning Point,
the Rescue Mission and Camp Virginia Jaycee. The purpose of the
Community Service Committee is to develop our
relationships with these organizations as well as discover ways to help
others. We are also looking for more one-day projects
for the 2007 year. All ideas are welcome! Please remember: "We make a
living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."
-Winston Churchill
Professional Development/Leadership Committee
This
committee will focus primarily on getting speakers into meetings,
scheduling professional seminars, opportunity to learn
more about government, seminars members can take with them in their
everyday work force. (ex: resume writing, public speaking,
job interview)
Individual Development/Social
All
organizations need to let loose once in a while. This committee will
focus on one-day fun events. Also, we need project
managers for the Hawaiian Luau to be held in July, Wine Tasting, Cooking
Classes and more! Bring your ideas for 2008!
